Jaime Hayon for &Tradition, Palette JH7 Low Table
Three materials, three heights, one composition — Jaime Hayon's Palette JH7 is a coffee table that thinks like a sculpture.
ARTIST: Jaime Hayon for &Tradition
PERIOD: Contemporary
CATEGORY: Furniture
MATERIALS: Black lacquered ash, Nero Marquina marble, brass, powder-coated steel
DIMENSIONS: 45 w × 27 d × 18 h in.
CONTEXT: Inspired by Alexander Calder's kinetic sculptures, Spanish designer Jaime Hayon transformed the idea of a mobile into a table — stabilized by a metal armature. The result is a curious equilibrium that resembles a mobile, only static — three distinctive shapes balanced at different heights, forming a unified whole. The JH7 configuration brings together a broad oval in black lacquered ash, a raised round top in veined Nero Marquina marble, and a smaller brass oval — each surface distinct in material and height, each contributing to a composition that reads differently from every angle.
